KTex Family by CEDREM

Finite Element Modeling of Fabrics

KTex Family is a set of tools dedicated to modeling composite materials precisely at the scale of the yarns. Additionally, it takes into account the impact of manufacturing processes on their mechanical properties.

KTex Family simulates composite processes, automatically calculates mechanical properties of a given weave, and generates associated cards for Altair® Radioss® and Altair® OptiStruct®.

KTex Family consists of four modules: KTex Pattern, KTex LayUp, KTex Winding, and KTex Woven Properties.

Why KTex Family?

Mesoscale Representation

KTex Family helps representing composite materials at the scale of the yarns and assessing the impact of manufacturing processes on their mechanical properties.

Manufacturing Process Simulation

KTex LayUp automatically creates a ready-to-run finite element model representing the lay-up process. Lay-up parameters can also be user-defined.

Ply Properties

KTex Woven Property automatically calculates the mechanical properties of any given ply.

Key Features

Mesoscale Fabric Mesh

KTex Pattern automatically creates the mesh of any fabric, at the mesoscale.

Lay-up Simulation

KTex LayUp automatically creates a finite elements (FE) model representing the lay-up of any fabric onto any given shape.

Ply Mechanical Properties Calculation

KTex Woven Property calculates the macroscopic homogenized mechanical properties of any given fabric, based on matrix and fibers properties, and weaving pattern.

Visualization of Fiber Paths

KTex Winding provides a visualization of the fibers path and of the impact of the manufacturing parameters on it.

Precise FE Models

KTex Pattern provides a precise FE model of a given weave at the scale of the yarns.

Optimization of the Manufacturing Process

KTex Winding allows an optimization of the manufacturing process to meet specific expectations.
